Official position statements issued by our association:
January 25, 2021 on Implementation of OSAC approved Standards
The Association of Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM) is a professional organization whose mission is to promote standardized practices and professionalism in quality assurance management for the forensic community. AFQAM’s approximately 250 members represent a wide range of public and private forensic laboratories, forensic accrediting bodies, proficiency test vendors and other organizations in the United States and abroad that are actively engaged in advancing forensic quality assurance.
As an organization based in quality, we strongly believe in the development of standards and best practices. Thus, AFQAM supports Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) [for Forensic Science] and OSAC registry of standards and encourages forensic science service providers to evaluate and implement the standards on this registry whenever possible.
AFQAM will continue to support the future development of such standards through its representation and participation on the OSAC Forensic Science Standards Board (FSSB) and the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for ISO/TC 272.
